Yesterday, 2/05/12, at 11:08 am at Shell station at 1370 Camden Ave and Erin Way near Hwy 17 in Campbell CA. I inadvertently left my wallet at the cashier window after purchasing cigarettes. I returned today and a review of the security tapes showed that I had indeed left my wallet on the counter, and it was not picked up by the Shell cashier but by the next customer served at that window. Anyone with information regarding this please contact me William Heinrich, no questions asked. This is not an attempt to trap anyone, there will be no legal issues, I just would like my wallet back with credit cards.

He shouldn't be worried about getting the cards back "intact," because he should be asking the various providers to shut them all down and issue new ones. This fixes the card problem. Now all he has left is loss of whatever is in the wallet and possible identity theft attempts (read this).

<I assume that, based on fossiloolCA's total points since (140, with 2 message posts), that he won't bother returning to the websit. It would be interesting to know if he even appreciated anyone's responses to his original post.>

....was wondering too if he ever got it back. Figures.

if the person used a credit card and the tape is time stamped, and the register is time stamped, they may be able to get the card number from the sale.

The likelihood that someone picking up a wallet from a gas station counter in California is a Gas Buddy member and will read this thread, let alone respond to it, is, to say the least, unlikely.

At best, even if the person picking up the wallet is a member of Gas Buddy, this thread would be better placed, as Scrapheap suggested, in your local discussion forum where you would expect local members to participate in discussions. In the national thread (which this is, being read by people across the United States and Canada), the most you can expect is sympathy and suggestions. So here's mine:

If you want to get the attention of the "next customer", the person who picked up the wallet, ask the gas station to let you post a flyer with the information you wrote in your post. There may be a chance that the customer will return to the gas station and see the flyer.

I've asked for this thread to be moved to the local San Jose forum.

I suggest you cancel your cards.
