Hey! Its summer time. Gasoline is supposed to go up because of all the additional vacation travel. Maybe the oil companies should wake up and discover that there is not all that much money left for vacations. Tigerpaw46 makes an interesting point -- If regulation is necessary for electricity and heating fuels, why isn't regulations necessary for pricing of gasoline?

If inventory is up, why isn't fuel price going down? Because of market speculation.

As usual the oil supplies stored & the Gas supplies stored both increased for the month, but gas prices rose anyway. Why, just maybe it's all the SPECULATORS again. Why is it the Government wants to control everything in our lives except the things that they should be watching; like Safety & energy prices. Why do they regulate most electric companies in the US, who have to get approval to raise rates, but don't regulate fuel. What's the difference in someone heating & cooling their home or business with elect. & using natural gas etc.

Having High OIL inventory DOES Not make fuel prices go down because the FUEL producer IGNORES the LAW of Supply and DEMAND... UP THE fuel price NO MATTER what... WHEN it SHOULD go down
It is CALLED ... Price CONTROL. Or MONopoly
And NOT the board game

So if the supply and demand theory is to hold true, shouldn't we see prices dropping by now? What's the problem here? Does supply and demand economics work for everything except oil/gasoline?

RENEGADEGAS, that is right on. But I think crude will go up a lot from the well head blowout and there will be a real nix on any new offshore drilling despite what the Guminit says substantiated by the platform problem, The first in 30 years I believe. What about the 11 days it took the feds to respond?

What the hell's going on? Crude has fell by nearly $7 per barrel over the last few days yet gasoline has went up or stayed pat, but hasn't been a penny lower.

when are those fools going to realize that when you jack prices up people quit driving thus inventories go up. i don't know what kind of lame brains they have controlling the market, but if they want profits then they had better lay off the price increasing for a few years till this country gets going again.

Its just a matter of time before we hit the magic number. The one that will meet hussiens approval. He wants gas between $3.50 and $4.00 a gallon regardless the price of oil or supply and demand. These things are no longer a factor in deciding the pump price. He told everyone during the election several times and since the election at least twice that I have heard. Once the price gets to that point they will lock it. This is all in an effort to "encourage", more like force Americans to buy and drive cars the administration deems suitable. Your freedoms of choice are slowly being taken away. They hope you wont notice till its to late to turn back. COME ON NOVEMBER!!!

Yet pump prices continue to rise.. while we are doing health care and banking reform why not just add big oil reform as well And corrections pump prices are set by speculators and whatever reason big oil can dream up on any given day.

what fools these mortals be... price is determined by the cost to bring the product to market. See here. Not by supply. there could be a trillion trillion barrels of oil on Mars. but what would it cost to bring it to Earth?
