I see you like hypermiling, too. I'm not an extreme hypermiler, myself. I don't go to the point of coasting with the engine off. That is actually illegal in FL. But I do love to time my red-lights! I often make a trip across town and never wait for a single light. I have to chuckle at all the "M-F's" (I call them - the Me-Firsts...). As they pass me while I'm coasting toward the next red light, it appears to me that they can't wait to wait. They must really like waiting because they compete so fiercely to be the first one in line to wait! And then if I time it right the light flips green as I come rolling up next to them and we are all together again - proving their big hurry gained them nothing.

Your in error regarding the relative leathality of weapons 'allowed' during the colonial period. They had the blunderbuss for anti personel work. It was also legal and encouraged for private ship owners to purchase and arm their own ships with the most modern cannon available. They had a charge called canister - around 500 musket balls per shot and a trained crew could get off two shots of 500 balls each in less than three minutes.
