No sign of gas prices dropping, look for political fallout in debates

Brainerd Dispatch -- Presidential candidates Obama and Romney square off tonight in the first debate of the campaign season. However, this debate will center around the economy. One issue that is certain to come up is the cost of driving.

After a brief respite from gas prices inches close to $4 a gallon, it seems as though the cost of driving our cars and trucks will continue to soar to new heights. Why? Well, it seems that oil refineries are experiencing lower than normal inventories. Net result: What oil is refined is selling for near or at record levels.

“Gas prices stay high,” a USA Today report stated, with the “2012 average for regular gasoline (price per gallon) is on track to be the highest on record.” In 2011 the average was $3.51 per gallon.” As of Oct. 1, 2012 the national average price is at $3.6

Domestic production of oil and gas is higher in spite of Obama's policies that cut the number of leases and permits on federal land and water by half. That is because the production was done on private land.

I went to Big Trees State Park to a Docent Appreciation Dinner and got home in time to avoid it. I already know who I am not voting for and no one will change my mind. Halleluyah.

We just finished watching this debate - nothing was said about the gas prices or pain at the pump. The only thing Romney pointed out was all the dollars the Obama government pumped into green energy and solar projects that all went belly up. Obama made no response to this.

By the way, our prices here in Canada are rising. Grab your wallets guys!

Oil prices are down over $3.50 a barrel today, so prices must go down and the summer driving season is over. It's called GREED and SELFISHNESS.

Oil inventories are high... Refineries are refining less oil for one reason...GREED! Big oil refines less oil to manipulate the price higher.

Prices must drop or the economy will worsen and more gas stations will go out of business.

Its simple Obama and the Democrats want high prices and high taxes to keep people dependant on government and create a entitlement welfare state. It did not work with the Soviet Union and will not work here.

Sell less gas for more money. Seems like the government would step in the provide mandates like they do for gas mileage in cars.
