Russia Increasingly Worried About US ‘Shale Revolution

Natural Gas Europe -- Russia’s President Putin urged the country’s gas monopoly Gazprom to revise its export policy, as the “shale revolution” and the development of liquefied natural gas will seriously eat into the country’s export revenues.

Experts agree that alternative commodities have already started to reshape the market, with the US posing tough competition to Russia.

“Such new players [in the gas market] as the United States and Canada have already started to move.In the US, new technologies allow for profitable shale gas production…Politicians, experts and businesses are talking about a real "shale revolution," Putin added.

“The US is a serious rival to Russia in a gas market,” as the country’s reserves of shale gas stand at 24trln cubic metres, compared to 30trln cubic metres of traditional gas...

Actually, the stuppid ones are the americans...... they'll complain about high gas prices...then do nothing to force them back down by internalizing most production to American markets only. Perhaps the government should set a percentage of fuel to be kept in the US before allowing the tax benefits and profits for foreign sales....

I heard it said on the BBC today that,in some circles,it's being suggested that the Soviets are funding the left wing protesters opposing fracking because they fear being replaced as the major gas producer. The US and Canada, combined, can render the Soviets as a minor player in world energy markets.

Russia Increasingly Worried About US ‘Shale Revolution' and they should be. Big Oil and Big Gas exports fuel and natural gas to other countries that will pay more for it, much more than here. There will be NO price reduction or cheaper prices for natural gas IN the US, so it does NOT matter how much crude oil or natural gas is produced.
'Coming out of the closet' Sneeky's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the 'jobs' are Not here. Sneeky's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down. People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Wish all the theatrics could help bring down prices here. The world's a stage and that's where our oil is going.

Keep enough of all our resources in the USA to fulfill all our needs first. Only allow export of EXCESS Gasoline, Diesel, NG, Oil & all commodities to keep our prices more reasonable, just like many countries do with their resources.

Sure, @Zeke33. Obama is such good friends with the Russian President that Putin is crapping his pants over our installing a missile defense shield in Poland.

This just proves that the drillers have no desire to lower natural gas prices for Americans. Their main goal is to export the stuff out of the country, with the profits going right into their pockets.

And once the shale gas is all gone, then what?
